I've been thinking about fitting crawler gears to the high range side of the first transfer. This would then give you the option of low, doulbe low and triple low. That would be a sweet setup. Haven't studied the lux manual to see if can be done.

What do the lux gooru's think?? Can it be done???

You could leave it idling in triple low, get out, take a piss, walk 2 paces and get back in.

Yeah gear set could go in any of the 2 cases however it would be best in the back case, Could also use the 23spline gear set however if you already had the dual case adapter you would need to get the coupler to suit. i'm 99% sure marlin do them or used to as pre assembled as a "ultimate crawl box"
plenty of parts on the bench

there is no "high range side" in a lux transfer, the high range drives straight through - it's either no reduction at all or low range.

if you have dual transfers with crawler gears in one, you effectively have 4 different ranges - high, "normal" low, "crawler" low, and "crawler x normal" low, which in most driving situations would be fairly useless.

yeah ok no worries thanks for the replys. ;)

was just wondering as i could get a set pretty damn cheap. so thought why not.

my duals at the moment are slow enough as it is but thats running 37's and 4.8s in nissan diffs.. would this still suit when im going to eventually run 42's.

this is why im asking id still like a very slow gear for those easy days out on crawlin rocks when you pick tough slow lines and just want to cruise over sh!t

If your going to go to 42 you will notice a big diff from 37s just get a set of 4.7 for the rear case and your set you can run any gear you like if its too low you just use the front case to high run the rear still to high and can't crawl use both, you have it all

Mate in my opinion it is worth it on 37s let alone on 42s lots of us run 2.28front 4.7 rear with tyres from 36 iroks to 40 maxxis some went from duals 2.28 in both cases from 37s to 40s and found it was just getting away from them and crawling was not as good. So went up to the 4.7s.

Get a set from here if you like. They have both 21 and 23 spline depending on your dual adaptor and if you want you can get the coupler to make it 23spline rear which is definatly stronger esp with 42s in mind
