Re: Hilux with 80's diffs
In Qld you are only allowed 50mm track width increase, so to be legal you would be limited to narrow rims with positive offset, like split rims, if it were to be possible at all. Or else narrow the diffs down, killalux has done this.Mattoz wrote:Been wondering if anyone has put 80 series diffs coil setup under a ln106. has anyone done this, can any one do this and get it engineered?

Re: Hilux with 80's diffs
i read thats 50mm extra track for that specific diff housing. so even if the diffs may give you an extra 150mm wheel track that maybe within the specs of the 80's diff housing.slosh wrote:In Qld you are only allowed 50mm track width increase, so to be legal you would be limited to narrow rims with positive offset, like split rims, if it were to be possible at all. I have done a rear and now about to do the front using std 80 series mounts, the rails are 20mm narrower on each side, so between the spring mounts on the diff and the chassis i dont think its going to worry it with the lift.. you will need to chop the inner guard also.

it says nothing about diffs, only vehicle track. So you've read it wrong.pinkfloyddsotm wrote:i read thats 50mm extra track for that specific diff housing. so even if the diffs may give you an extra 150mm wheel track that maybe within the specs of the 80's diff housing.slosh wrote:In Qld you are only allowed 50mm track width increase, so to be legal you would be limited to narrow rims with positive offset, like split rims, if it were to be possible at all. same thing isnt it? the length of the diff plus tyre width gives you vehicle trackShadow wrote:it says nothing about diffs, only vehicle track. Re: Hilux with 80's diffs
the vehicle track is specified in your manufacturers handbook.pinkfloyddsotm wrote:same thing isnt it? the length of the diff plus tyre width gives you vehicle trackShadow wrote:it says nothing about diffs, only vehicle track. Does it say in the handbook "Go measure your diff, then add 200mm, this is your track"

Re: Hilux with 80's diffs
When I looked into it it depended on the engineer, some said it couldnt be done as they were too wide and greater than a 50mm increase. Others said that the length came off the new housing, I wasnt prepared to take the gamble. Do some research talk to some engineers and see how you go.Shadow wrote:the vehicle track is specified in your manufacturers handbook.pinkfloyddsotm wrote:same thing isnt it? the length of the diff plus tyre width gives you vehicle trackShadow wrote:it says nothing about diffs, only vehicle track. Personally I would just coil the Lux diffs.
