350 chev into MK SWB HELP

Post by hiluxmad »

putting one in for a mate(reinstall) he bought it of ebay :bad-words: PO did a chop job on removing the old motor before he sold it to my mate and now we are trying tto work some things out....
BTW 1986 MK SWB was L28 motor

what wire in the engine bay is the tacho feed wire?
is there any reason why we cant make it react to neg/earth on signal wire?

Who has done this and how did you mount power steer and alt? and what ones did you use?
cant get the temp wire to react either?

any help would be greatly appreciated by my sanity!! lol
Keep it shiny side up!
Now doing general fab work and painting
trays, trailers, engine swaps on request, some tube work, silo section sliders, rust repairs, ute chops etc

I haven't hooked up the tacho so a can't help on this one.

I used the Chev/Commodore P/S pump mounted low on the passenger side and just got a custom line made up. Made my steering lighter too. I used the Chev alt mounted high on the drivers side, it is internally regulated to I just had to hook up the signal wire and the charge wire. There was a jumper wire I had to fit into one of the original plugs to make the dash charge light work properly but a can't remember where it went, Kingy will probably know.

I have the original L28 temp and oil pressure senders fitted on to the Chev, gauges work as factory.
