Replcement engine - I got a new mo'a!

Post by Goatse.AJ »

G'day!

Firstly, just lettin' everyone know we're moving to Melbourne next week, so hopefully we can stir up a bit of WARFS activity down there...

Anyway, I got a question:

I've just put a Jap import motor in the Feroza ...got it from: http://www.ichiban.com.au/

I think it came out of an Applause???

Everything pretty well bolted straight up, with a few mods and swaps of brackets, etc., but there is a hose which comes from the top tank of the radiator and I can't find where it should hook up to at the other end. On the original motor, it connected to the inlet manifold, just in front of No.1 cyl injector. I know there is a home for the loose end, coz she's leaking coolant, but can't see where from.

Has anybody who's done a swap got any hints?

Thanks in anticipation.

If i am reading it all correctly. Why not put the original inlet manifold back on this new engine????

On a seperate note AJ, just wondering how those rear shackles are holding up, i was always a little concerned they may have been made out of a bit to thin of metal.

Hey Troy,

mate the shackles have been FANTASTIC! I'm still running the original springs, and get awsome flex for stockies. I dunno if I've got any photos, but I'll get some pics and post 'em when I can.

I used the new inlet mainfold coz I'm a bit suss about the old one and the fuel reg, so opted for using the new one. If worst comes to worst, I'll put the old one on.

I also got a set of extractors, but will bolt them up during the week once I get everything else going....that way should get an idea of how much better the new motor is too.

Well going off that, and only guessing here, haven't had my head under a Feroza bonnet in a while. There would be an inlet and outlet for coolant on the manifold?????? If the newer manifold has no provison for coolant to run through it, then just join the others hoses together and should be right.

Only guessing, would have to see it to have more an idea.

Hey Besty,

Mate, I'm hanging to get back to a few of the ol' tracks .....Toolangi, Gippsland, etc. ...and I wanna check out your beast!

The move is permanent...bringin' the fambly home to be closer to the Grans. We'll be in the Caulfield area 'til we get settled in and ready to buy a place....

Anyway, I got her goin' today, seems there just isn't anywhere for that extra hose to go on the Applause donk. Just gotta sort out a few minor probs tomorrow (Monday)...timing, temp sender, F#%@*in' check engine light, etc. AND me power stirring/aircon belt sh@t itself....so she'll be ready for the drive to Mehico by tomorrow arvo.

By the way, anyone in Sydney lookin' for a replacement donk, give Pete at Ichiban a call (He's a mate of a mate), I've bought 2 motors (1 for the Zook) from him in the last coupla months and they've been great...I paid $895 for the Feroza donk....not sure if I got mate's rates on that one, but even so, they're a sh!te load cheaper than other quotes, AND I'm happy with both of them.

Apparently some of the Applause blocks won't mate up with the Feroza gearbox, but they can check that out for ya...
