Qrock Results

Post by Strange Rover »

Just spoke to Tony (Ruff) and gave me the outlaw results:

1st - Trailcraft (and they walk away with $2000 cash)
2nd - Rod Dirte in the 1/2 tube buggy ($450)
3rd - Wes Clifford in the Lockless ($250ish)

Tony said it was a really good event and had a lot of fun. So much fun, in fact, that he managed to break the rear transfer output on his Hilux before the event started and wasnt able to compete. He did spot for the Lockless though.

The courses were very open with a fair few loose rocks throw in to make things interesting. Lots of offcamber stuff as well. He said the Lockless worked well although did struggle for ground clearance a lot of the times (we even lifted it up 2 inches from the last XRCC) and is eating short side CVs. It broke a short side Hilux Wrongfield (our version of a longfield) on an early course and then broke a genuine Longfield (thats the second one now) on the same side on the last course. Almost makes me think that we have an allingment problem running the toy CVs in the rover housing or it maybe could be that the water in the front tyres is just loading things up to much. But I will check things out once it gets home.

Didnt give me the results for the rest of the classes but everybody should be home tonight anyway.

Nah - by the sounds of it he broke the rear output shaft. Which is the same thing that BJ has broken twice and POS has broken once. At XRCC Tony broke the input shaft into the second transfer.

He did well on most tracks. Track three on the first day I think he did really well on.

He got lots and lots of carnage!! Guards, headlights, doors, cv and driveshaft. He bashed that big winch about quite a bit as well.

will be interesting to see what your findings are...
I however, can't see an issue with alignment... i reckon it would be the 38's and water......be interesting to see what broke

Havent got much time at the moment to reply but had a great time. Learnt a few more things about the Lockless and and its capabilities. Wes grew some huge balls and drove more off camber than most ever have without rolling. This thing is megga stable for the suspension set up it runs.

Dangerous Dave(BeeBee) took 1st place in Mod. Im pretty sure second and third went to the 2 blue cruisers from Toowomba,Team Yuri and Team Effort but cant realy remember.

Was a big weekend broke lots of stuff but had a ball. Drove with some awsome other drivers and watched some real crazy lines driven and also almost driven.

Big thanks to the Queensland Rock Crawlers for putting on the event, they went to a lot of trouble and were always happy to listen to competitors questions and also opinions or advise. I think we are all still learning with this style of event.

And what can i say about poor old Scotty other than he drove like a mad man and doesnt have a straight panel left

Awsome event , Just got home what a huge weekend. There was 5 entered in Outlaw & 8 in modified.
Modified was won by Bee bee, 2nd Peter Anderson in his "Sic 40" blue cruiser & 3rd was Toymad ( me ) in Hilux. There were 4 in modified just from Toowoomba

This was my first comp & i am stoked!!!!!!!!!!
Learnt heaps, Got a few small dints along the way, cracked the free wheelin hub & tried to pull the track rod of the top of the diff housing ( which now leaks ) All i can say is YEAHHHHHHHH. :D
Drove the first rock ledge ( that 83 lux flopped on & tony broke the output shaft on ) I was second so it was not chewed out at all :D
We drove some awsome Shiat.
Scotty will post up a pic of your flop shortly ( I just have to go have a look at the new O/L Wild Weekend DVD ) :D

started loading up some pics...

http://www.4wdlinks.com.au/gallery/QROCK-2004

we got 5th on track 1...4th on track 2...4th on track 3[did a door] then dnf'd on track 4 when we got stuck on both sidesteps with 4 wheels doing nuthin...probably a lucky thing cos there was some mad shit still to come
was a heap of fun and a great atmosphere among the competitors.

we didnt get back to the awards cos there was still some booty fabing and winching happening in the gorge...i think we got craig out about 9pm.

Greg - 1Madengineer (Spotter) and myself took out first in Mod and were obvously very happy about that. What was the "icing on the cake" was the $730 and spacecase for taking out the win. We knew that there would be a cash prize but didn't expect anything like that. With these incentives on offer as well as the dedicated organisation and great terrain, there's no doubt that this event will become very popular.

A big thanks must go to the Qld Rockcrawling Club and the QROCK comittee for putting on another great event.

Thankyou!
