custom hilux crossmember
the crossmember on my hilux is about 150mm thick and because i want better ramp over angles i was wondering if i make a custom one do i hav to get a mod plate or engineered or any of that pain in the ass stuff or can i just bolt it on and no worry bout that stuff.
if i make a custom one i was goin to use 10mm plate.that should handle the weight of the gearbox. any photos u hav of ur own pls show them thx.

Superior Engineering does a custom x-member for the same reason, greater clearance. Check out their site for pics. It's also made of 10mm plate and others that have made one on their own have also used this thickness.
As for engineers sign-off, I don't think you need it. But of course, you are responsible if it falls off and injures someone or their property.

Here is a pic of one I made for my 99 dual cab with IFS (with std crossmember behind). It raises the gearbox 30mm (to suit the 30mm body lift that was in mine). Made from 50x75x4mm. Gave it an extra 55mm clearance from standard. It's still sitting in shed if your interested, but I would be looking at trying to get bubs to make a few, they look awsome!
