G/box / J-shaft Noise ?

I have an annoying noise coming from the rear of the g/box region.
I thought it was the rear g/box mount which was shagged but i replaced it and the baastard noise is still there.
Its only when i take my foot of the gas when the car is gear and rolling.
as soon as i accelerate of push the clutch in it goes away.
Sounds like something rubbing and squealing on the brakes, but its not coming from there and ive checked.
Im thinking its the uni on the jackshaft, or possibly a bearing in the g/box.
I have already replaced the oil in the g/box which i overfilled and it made no audible change in the noise. I have checked the uni and it seems fine.
??? Next step change the uni and change the oil in the transfer??
just looking for ideas guys, the car is a 96 1ltr maruti ute with a 4spd and 140,000 on the clock.

cheers

Does the noise get louder or higher pitched consistantly when you go through the gears, or does it go dull then get louder/higher every time you change gear?

noise is only present when i have the car in gear and take my foot off the accelerator. If i put my foot on the clutch it dissapears, and if i pop it in neutral it goes away also. I just got 4 new unis' to put in tmoz so well see how we go, if it is the g/box its a good excuse for a 1.3 conversion.

extremely flogged out uni with about 2mm of metal holding it together and the shaft had bent awsome ! Got a 2nd hand shaft from wreckers $225 and fitted new uni's $39ea , I threw out my spare j-shaft 2months ago damn, and it would appear they use a shorter shaft than the 1.3 making them hard to come buy. Noise is fixed
