Steering box

Post by PJ.zook »

I have just removed my steering box due to excessive slop of which adjusting the clearance with the stud didnt help, and then took box apart as far as i could as it looks like you may need special tools. Anyway you can see most of box with the lid off, and everything seems to be in good condition. I put it back together and adjusted it up, then held it in a vice, and there was no slop (it must have been in the rag joint), but i noticed when it was in the central position (ie going straight ahead) it seemed to bind up more then become free again the closer you got to each lock. Is this normal?
