Do electric brake controllers shi! themselves?

Post by DX 80 »

Had a Haymen Reece installed for about 12 months.

Towing the camper today, the camper had no brakes. The plug at the end of the truck, is only showing a very faint light with the volt tester.

Hope this makes sense.

Sometimes they do but a few checks will tell..

First is the output of the unit turned up IE your gain on the front of the unit.. is it all the way to the high side to put max power to the brakes on the van..

Is the delay or sync slide control on the left side turned up enough fo the unit to act properly in sync when you push your brake the pedal down...

It is possible you have a fried unit it does happen see if you can smell it and if it smells smoke then i would say it fried. take it back and see if you can get a warranty.. depends on how they wired it up....

fit heaps of them and havent seen many fail and the ones that do are either hooked up to a 24v stoplight supply or due to old age. seen heaps of the teconsha units fail

It appears the problem was a dodgy pin connection on the trailer side.

I spread the pins out with a flat head screw driver and all is good.
