ive been thinking this for a while but every one i think of thinks im crazy
what i wanta do is put a large motor bike motor is a zook ie a 1300cc or bigger getting them to mate to the transfer is fairly eazy and it will have a briliant rev range
pick the shit out of it if you like is im after pros and cons
ps i can get a nt real cheap with a buggard gear box

Though there are some bikes/quads with reverse, might be worth a though. Of you could try to adapt a reverse gear into a box. There may be a kit to adat hipo bike motors to ag style boxes with reverse. The BMW and Guzzi engines have a dry plate clutch which would be a little simpler to adapt to the Sierra gearbox. The R series 1200 engine has reasonable hp and torque and has no problem with extended usage in the 6k - 8k rev range, yet pulls very nicely from just above idle as well. Surprised the above builder (as he is an aircraft person) didn't consider one of the BMW boxer engines as they are used in some kit construction planes with great success. Although thinking about it, cooling the boxer engine in a 4X4 environment would be an issue.

the diff gearing would help the waight and they could be left stock cause te cod sizes on a bike act the same as a diff and direction wont be a broplem as i have a direction box out of a massie hedder so ill have as manny forward gears as reverse
the shaft isnt a problem as i can have a front sprocket made with holes like a diff flange insted of teef

A shit tonne of work for similar power to a 1.6 motor that slips in heaps easier, comes standard with reverse and readily mounts to a gearbox.

There is a place that makes V8's out of two 1000cc R1 motors put together and sells them for use in things like caterhams etc. That'd be cool.

Too many Con's.......Motorbike engines are not designed for cars. You would be wasting time and money for essentially a setup that wont work off and on road. They will not mount to the transfer, chassis or anything easily.
There is a reason why the crank, block and gearbox are a lot stronger that those in a motorbike.
Your 'Fully Sic' setup would be a piece of shit.

the only reson i sujested it was cause i went for a ride in two diffrent clubman cars one with a turboed hibusan motor and one with a stock yamha r1 motor and they flew and no clutch problems

What some of you guys don't understand is you do not want a race engine in a zook. You want an engine that can produce good torque at low rpm. So an 800cc + motor could be make to work quite well to light, huge rev range, alreay water proof electrics, carbs that will work on all sorts of angles
