What gearboxes bolt to MQ transfer

Post by CB0569 »

What are the options available for putting different gearboxes on the MQ transfer case.I know there were 4 and 5 speed MQ/MK but what other options are available? I heard that there are adaptors to put a turbo 700 onto the transfer but what else?
Thanks

I thought all M# series patrols had divorced cases? therefore you could mate almost any similarly sized box to it, with length taken into consideration.

U ARE ALMOST RIGHT. The mq-mk had both. L28 with 4 speeds in the early mq were remote transfer case, however all 4/5 speed diesel were combined gearbox/transfer case. All 5 speeds are combined as too most 4's. Auto's were also remote. Nearly all MK's are combined. Why do u want to adapt another box?

I would like to adapt another box because of the extra engine options plus I have only a 4 speed behind my 2.8l petrol. eg:
5 speed and motor (RB30)
Commodore v6 and 5 speed (or auto)
V8 and turbo 700
God of Magnificant Ideas!
