LPG Stalling issue

I have maverick that is dual fuel......In the morning apart from taking a little longer to start all is well. It runs for about five minutes and then while driving it just cuts out........won't restart at all and you have to put on petrol to get going again.....after about 5mins it can go back to gas and not have any issues any longer. Only does it when it is from a cold start morning or night....

Has anyone had this problem and what could cause it. Water temp gauge is normal and car is warming up.....

What could it be??

Could be the mixer freezing up....ive only had this problem if ive been low on coolant....once the engine is warm it will "defrost" the mixer hence why it will run after a few mins on petrol..check your coolant level. Its it more of a problem now its getting colder

you could also move the converter lower in the engine bay.
the most likely answer is that you are low on coolant

Will check coolant level and bleed it with nose facing up hill to remove any air bubbles and see what that does......

if you pop the hood when it stalls, you'll see the converter covered in ice..

I had the same problem on my 80 series, it gradually got worse cutting out more often, turned out it was the fuel lock control unit, this looks like a driving light relay and has 4 wires coming out of it, one of these goes to the ignition coil and takes a pulse so it knows the engine is running and opens your gas solenoids.
When you try to restart on gas after it cuts out does it run for a couple of seconds on the initial shot of gas for startup and then stall, because the gas solenoids aren't being opened?

Nope once it dies it does not kick over on gas at all....have to go to petrol for 3-5mins and then back to gas.....

sounds a lot like the converter is freezing up on you.

Do you know what system you have? If not IMPCO your converter might be dirty inside. The oil that is in LPG builds up in yhe converter and it gets realy thick when its cold and once it warms up it is fine.

I have an impco system with 300A carby top unit......

well I have done the coolant and bled the system fully and it is still doing it. Convertor is warm when it cuts out. But after 5mins or so of running on petrol it will go straight back to gas without an issue????

can it be replaced or do I need to replace convertor??

With Impco convertors everything can be replaced, but i'm thinking you shoud check your mixer if your converter feels warm to touch. The 300A get a hair line crack in the diaphram or the screws come loose in it. Pull it appart, clean with carby cleaner and reasamble.

Can anyone recommend somewhere in the Eastern Suburbs where I can take it that won't try to install new equipment if a clean is worth while.
