So the Triton that I have just bought has a sloppy gear stick. I am pulling the box out when I change the engine, just wondering if there was an easy fix like replacing a bush or something that will help or if I am stuck with the way that it is.
Cheers

Mine was sloppy but made a grinding type noise it was the platic bush on the end of the gearstick
Then another was sloppy it was the pins were the gearstick meets the top plate
and last one was because one of the pins broke thats when it fell on the seat
try taking the covers off so you can see the top of the gearbox were the gearstick joins the box on the side should be two pins one on each side
Your looking for a weaping or a metalic paste coming from the pins.
If its there the pins are worn and they are grinding themselves away.
That could be the cause or the springs broken under the stick

Be careful - we had a triton gear lever break off (thankfully not in motion or whilst overtaking a truck)
should just be the shifter sheet (bush) or pins.

how old? what model? petrol diesel? is your triton?
because as far as i know some of the early tirtons/pajeros had borg warner boxes and the plastic bush for the gear stick is the same one that some commodores used (may be wrong)

Mine is a 1996 Turbo Diesel (MJ), I am still stuffing around with the engine at the moment so I havn't really had a look at it yet.
