Ive got a 76 Rangie on dual fuel. But runs rich on fuel. It appears the carby needles are worn. has anyone had success with replacing just the needles and not the jets (as I suspect they are also worn)?

How do needles wear?
They don't don't touch or rub on anything.
Is it the airflow that wears them?
Running rich on petrol is clearly a jetting/needle issue. Could also be the type/viscosity of oil in the chamber, but that usually only affects the "accelerator pump".
Looking forward to other (more meaningful) responses.

I've got the self centering type needle and without the fuel btween it and the jet it has chaffed. (it's badly out of round and chopped out it in the middle).
Also keen to hear from any one who's delt with this.
