ok so since my motor blew up a couple of mnths ago, i have a good family friend who said he will rebuild it for no charge.

only thing is i wanna do it so it lasts this time.

is there any aftermarket parts available and where do i get them from. im in brissy but if i have to order parts from interstate that isnt a problem

also what needs to be done to prevent any problems in the future.

any info would be great.

put a different engine in it.

You couldnt sell it with a blown donk? I find that suprising.

Pyro gauge, boost gauge, boost controller, Dawes control valve.

They wont fix the fact that the ZD30 is a pig of a motor, however these items will tell you when its going to blow up next time.

well the kits on ebay are just the same gear, was wondering if there were any upgrade kits available????

I think you'll be hard pressed to find any "upgrade" parts for a rebuild. I think genuine or good quality aftermarket parts will be your two choices.

The only extra stuff people throw money at after a ZD30 rebuild are the items i previously mentioned.

Dont forget to block the egr.

as stated , block egr , external oil cooler maybe? , 5000 km services , Pyro , Boost , maybe even a front mounted cooler or water to air. whatever you can do to keep that little engine cool because as you would know now they arent shy of going bang. EGR blocking cna be done at either end with some thin tin plate , easy to do and the engine will still think its doing its job opening and closing the valve as required just your engine wont be getting any nastys going back into it =]

Agreed. But I think that Nissan admitting to any sort of inherent problem with the engine's control ancillaries would be commercial suicide. Especially in this economic climate. I don't agree with it, but it seems to be the reality. So save your breath and a few dollars for the mods that Chaz recommends and enjoy wheeling your Patrol!

This started 7+ years ago.. long before the economic climate.. Yes, they should have admitted it right away, and stopped selling faulty engines. but hey... they didnt, cause they were flyin out the door good/bad/ugly.
many people have had to cut their losses and lost 10's of thouands..
