I had that same filter, with the rpimer, when the primer worked,m it worked well, but most often it was shagged. After changing the filter mine would have enough left in it to just fire/start and a bit of right foot would keep it going to get the fuel through. Maybe not the right or best way to do it, but it worked.

i changed the whole filter.. bowl and all.. not just the bit inside..
cause the primer pump had gone in the other one and i was worried it was letting air in.. (car running crappy).
cheers.

I have had no experience in this mate but have done a bit of reading on here and heard people putting pressure in their fuel tank by opening cap and putting compressor in there wrap some clothes around to get an air tight bit and give it a bit of a blow.
Not too sure tho sorry mate.

yeh the compressed air thing could work but what happens if you ever run out on the side of a road or in the bush some where... you need a priming pump to prime the injector pump...

With the problem of it running 'crappy' all you need to do is slightly pull the fuel outlet line off the injector pump (this is the fuel line return to tank) and just barely pull it back enough so either the air can bleed out or fuel comes out.. if fuel spurts out without bubbles there is not air in the pump and should run fine otherwise the air will rush out.

But that needs to happen while it is running, there is no need to crack the injectors as alot of people may tell you... I learnt the hard way on the side of the road cracking the injectors and it still not running...

Really to change a fuel filter you should clamp the inlet and outlet lines to the filter, drain/ chenge the filter and then fill it back up with fuel, remove the clamps and it all should just run (should be no need to bleed air out)

Ok to clarify, ill start from the start so everyone no's exactly whats goin on.
bought the car over a year ago and on the way home it was slow as fu#k even for a 2.8 (impulse buy). after a week of having it home went for my first 4x4 in it and cracked a air intake pipe and then went threw water and got water in the engine (obviously at this point i didnt no the pipe had broken). by the time i had gotten home the engine ceased. put a brand new engine in it a month later (with the old fuel system).
still ran like crap. lost my license so its sat in the shed the past few months, put new injectors in it about a month ago (put them in myself) the day after my mate borrow the car for an hour.. and after that it wouldnt start off the key only roll start.
today i replaced the fuel filter and fuel lines hoping to get it to run better as the primer pump on the old filter was fuc'd and thought it might be letting in air.

SO i now have a car that wont start off the key, and now probably wont roll start due to not having any fuel in the filter/ fuel lines.

Thanks PPL, sorry if u just read all that.. u must b tired.
i no i am.. fukn night shift

UPDATE... i sucked fuel up into the filter (took the outline off the filter and used my all powerful lungs).
Note: i got plenty of fuel into the bowl but none came out the outline (into my mouth)

Hooked it back up, kicked it over and after a few turns it started up.
but giving it any throttle would barely lift the rpm.
took the outline off the injector pump (runs back to the fuel tank)
to try and bleed it but only bubbles came out, tried cracking the injectors
but they seemed to have efficent fuel.
tryed the outline on the injectors pump again and nothing was coming out.

at this point the car wouldnt even idle... which is where im at now.
SOMEONE HELP ME

make sure its bled properly , remove the outlet line off the filter housing. pump it till fuel gushes out with each pump , then connect the line up and keep pumping till it goes hard. then try and fire it up and see what happens

What torque? Tighten it till it strips and then back it off half a turn.

try a piece of clear hose from the out on the filter to the in of the pump... just to see if there is any air bubbles in the fuel... it really sounds like its getting air... also did you replace all the O rings inside the glass assembly.. didnt miss one? theres like 4 or 5 iirc
