Braking issue in a Prado?

Post by sickgm »

Hey Guys,

Need your help on a little bit of a mystery? I have a 99 model prado that after i changed the front brake pads it started to dart (Steering wheel turns 1/4 to the left) to the left when I applied the brakes heavily.

Took it to a mechanic and he was certain that the caliper required an overhaul?
So, they did that and the problem is still there???

Things I do know: I know that the steering rack has a some play on the right hand side and is also leaking on the left. Mechanic also said that the shocker on the front right is also a little softer than the one on the left?

Mechanic said that the pads may take sometime to adjust and will eventually wear into braking straight? It has been 3 weeks already?

Any help would be much appreciated?

$790 Exchange, $600 Wreckers, $1900 toyota!
