I am talking about the BC rockers at the top of the page. I am looking for maximum flex on my 83 MQ build up. Don't want to go with SOA really though. Plan on 3" spring lift and 2" body lift. Was thinking of using the BC rockers with Superior drop shackles and BigBalls Bullocks spring bushings. Do you think this is overkill for flex?? I don't care much how it handles on the road, just after off-roading with the build up. Should I use ladder bars to prevent axle wrap if it way flexy?? If you think I should dump something would it be drop shackles of the BC rocker?? Lastly could I use the drop shackels and BC rockers in a shackle reversal situation? How do you think it would play out? Any sugestions...? I am putting lot's of thought into the suspension on this truck and want it to be top notch so any advice is awesome!
Also what do you think of Tough Dog shocks?? I have used Ranchos, Pedders, Dobinsons, KYB's and like them all but want to try something different, maybe even something better. What is the best shock you know to fit an MQ? With off-roading in mind of course.
Also what about a return to center stabilizer? Are they junk or the bomb? The one made by Tough Dog looks pretty nice...I have only used standard types but the MQ has power steering!
I had Tough Dog foam cell shocks on the back (still have em on the front) until a tangle with a log bent one, I replaced it with OME ones and notice no difference, with two inch spring lift and extended shackles.
If your serious about flex with a MQ scrap the standard springs and get 100mm longer ones, but of coarse this creates much cutting and welding.
Also cut the top front shock mounts off and fabricate some new ones with longer shocks because this is the limiting factor on MQ wheel travel in the front. Some where in these threads theirs a guy from Tawoomba who makes springs he has the longer ones with SPO and is getting good flex.Happy hunting
self centering steering dampeners are really good, or at least ive found to have them work really well. Are definatly not over rated.
With regards to tough dogs, they are the shocks im gonna be running when i finally get the money up for a new set of shocks.

I did not realize they are designed for SOA only. After reading about them for over an hour I can't say I saw a single thing that said for SOA use only. Makes sense to me now but never thought about it before that. Must seem dumb to you guys asking such questions. Oh well I am a first timer with drop shackles and in my little hick town you can't just go look at anything before you buy it. Also if I go the route of SOA on the MQ then I will be poping my cherry there too!
So for now I will hold off on drop shackels and I also decided no BC rocker. Will start with a plain old spring lift kit and a body lift. If I don't like it then it will be SOA time. Without SOA I am expecting some rub with 34" tires....
Don't mind cutting and hacking and welding new junk on the MQ at all. That is what I bought it for. Just have 3 projects going right now and with limited funds I am not even ready for cash of doing a SOA.
I have a 2" body lift and 2" spring lift (now pretty sagged) and my 35s don't hit anywhere, With the Q78s I did have to trim the front and rear edges of the wheel arches.
Without SOA I am expecting some rub with 34" tires....
Just have 3 projects going right now and with limited funds I am not even ready for cash of doing a SOA.
