Hey guys have a 82 MQ LWB Sd33. Just connected a original airconditioning compressor up ( Mine didnt originally come with one ) and am quite suprised at the air output.
I was expecting quite alot more!!! How do i gauge wether my compressor is putting out the right ammount of air OR are they better used with a air tank of some description?? Oh and i am running it at approx 2000rpm or so.
Please help!!, so confused.

Okay but if i get a big enough tank is it possible to pump up all four tyres on the one tank of air. I want to be able to pump up my tyres as quick as. Although 8 minutes is pretty quick i want super fast tyre inflation. With the addition of a large resoviour will that help in cutting down the minutes?? Also i would like to be able to run air tools.

Yep a big tank is good 9kg gas cylinder or so if you want to seat beads on tyres.

if you want SUPER quick air up you need to get something like a carbon dioxide tank - the compressor/tank setup is slightly quicker than compressor alone but for airing up you need big volumes of air because you only get relatively low pressures from a compressor - at 110psi in the tank you'd need a 100 - 150 litre tank to air up 4 x 33x12.5" tyres from 15 to 35psi without the compressor running, and the air up time will be fast for the first tyre and slower as you get through the tyres. obviously faster if the compressor is running. a 9kg LPG cylinder is a good compromise size, it will make the air up a bit quicker as it will buffer between tyres, with the compressor running.

saw a bloke on the discovery channel, going across antartica who put the tyre around the wheel, completly deflated, put lighter fluid inside the wheel and lit it, the tyre was inflated faster then you could say, holy fark!

Well i took BOGGED's advice and went to a truck wreckers and picked up a nice sixed tank for $50. Decided that a small tank and an A/C comprssor is a shiteload better than what i have now!!! The little air tank is prolly around the same size as a 9kg gas bottle so should do nicely. Now all i have to do is work out exactly what i need to buy and where from.

is that for a pressure relief or for a pressure switch? I don;t think ARB stocks a pressure relief, and $40 is about what they charge for their pressure switch.

you need a pressure switch to turn the compressor on and off. the ARB one is good because it turns ON at about 85psi and off at about 115psi. the pressure relief valve is to protect the tank/fittings from over pressure in case the pressure switch fails with the compressor still running.
