small block chev into GQ, trouble with MARKS ADAPTORS mounts

Post by maccasMQ »

Hi guys, i just put a small block chevy into my GQ, using the marks adaptors bolt in mounts. So i have the gq engine mounts sitting there, and the marks adaptor on each side of the motor, and they are on the right sides (checked that, coz at first they werent) And the stuf on the GQ engine mount is too long for the adaptor, making it not able to sit in properly, not to mention slip a nut over the top.

ALSO: I am using a T400 auto, so got the transfer case adaptor too from marks. The transmission mounts site about 2-3 inches further back (towrds the back of the car) from the mounting position on the crossmember.

Does anyone know if i got sent the wrong engine mount adaptors?

I was thinking i could cut the GQ engine mount studs down a bit, and mod the crossmember to sit further towards the back of the car, and be greatfull that i would have a lower sitting motor and also sitting further back for COG reasons.

these are the mounts here, actually found they were back to front, that one is meant to be on the other side (and that made the transmission sit about an inch infront of the crossmember mounts)

only pic showing the mounts whilst in, but it isnt sitting flush on the mounts, sitting up on the studs a bit.
