best straight lpg system

Post by defmec »

im saving up to put lpg on my 110 v8 strom carbs . i dont want to use one of them kits as they seem to be problematic i was thinkn getting a 4bbl manifold and going for a impco 425 carb and pulling out the fuel system as it would get better mileage setup for straight lpg.
whats your thoughts ?

If your going to run straight gas i would go with a Gas research Throttle body.I have one on my 3.9 Turbo and it runs a treat. :D Never had a problem with it and it has never gone out of tune.Just make sure to upgrade your ignitions sytem as well.Makes a big difference.

I've got Gas Research on mine, one day i'm sure i will actually get the thing finished, but for me there was no better option. It also fits very well on the rover manifold, check the "post your rover" forum for pics of my system.

I have just organised a LPG injection system for my parents BA Falcon, i must say it is very impressive, i don't know if they can do straight gas injection though, my parents car starts on petrol, then automatically switches over to LPG.

Did you have to do anything to the motor to prep it for straight gas?

Do you use one of those lube systems?

Roughly what was the system worth?

Thanks

I didnt touch the motor at all.It was a brand new bottom end with reco heads. I Dont use any lube system at all.You should be fine with The old Rover V8.As for cost i cant really remember.I had it done about 7 years ago.My car already had gas on it so all i needed was the throttle body done and a new convertor.Call Gas Research. There on Dandy Frankston Rd from memory.

The other thing you can do is get a 3.9 /3.5 injection manifold and have the injector holes tiged up and have the throttle cut of and a plate welded in place to fit the gas carb to.

i was thinking the same thing it would be alot easier to modify and would be better to have a plenum for more gas vaporization
