5 speed for MQ. What box have I been given?

Post by captainbellybuster »

Hi all, I'm new here ( duh!! ) LOL. I think I have been ripped off & would like some advise. I have a '82 lwb MQ on lpg & petrol. It's covered some 600,000 klms. The transfer case is starting to make a grinding noise & a mate (could be an ex-mate shortly) lines me up a 5 speed that he says will bolt straight up. It's a MONSTER! It has the same rear hand brake as my MQ, but that is where it ends. The transfer selection is on the left, not the right & it looks , well, just toooo big. The only numbers I can find on the box are: 32JC1or 32JCL. I would be very grateful if someone can identify the gearbox for me & moreover tell me if this will actually fit my MQ.( My gearbox & transfer are seperate with a small shaft between them. & this monster is all-in-one. Regards, Paul.PS. ( I can post a pic on my webshots account if that will help.)

Later 5 speed all in one. Its a longer unit.
You will also need the front and rear tailshafts.

yeah 5 speeds are definatly longer, but the gear selection should still be on the right hand side.
Check to see if the handbrake somes out to the right or it comes straight out the back of the box.

Sounds like a GQ 5 speed if the transfer is on the left.

cheers,

Screwy
