100 series tyre size/body lift/LSD/etc

Post by crunk81us »

Hi All,

I traded a very broken mitsy Challenger for a HZJ105R standard (live axle, part time 4wd) It appears to have about a 1 inch suspension lift.

I want to fit 35's
I have very little cash so please don't tell me to buy new suspension.
Can I fit these tyres by massaging the guards/ removing plastic bits/ removing mud flaps?
It appears from my research (and from having a look with a tape measure) I should be able to fit them with a little scrubbing.
Should I do a body lift? (no cash for suspension)
Also is there an LSD that can go into the front diff without too much hassle? (no money + LSD centres from 50 bucks) An air locker will come later.

Any help muchly appreciated :)

coil spacers are cheaper and much easier than a body lift. instant 40mm lift. 35's will fit fairly easily with your 1" plus 40mm coil spacers. much less work, and much easier to reverse should you ever need to.

the LSD from the rear of V6 hilux/diesel bundera will fit the front of the 105 but it is a lot of work for not much benefit - pulling it all apart only to do it again in a years time to put the air locker in. just save up and wait.

coil spacers might be the way.. I just dont want to lose wheel travel due to the spacers I guess I could put them in and see.

you might lose a bit of down, but gain a bit of up. the factory shocks may limit the rear but the suspension design limits the front articulation long before the shocks bottom/top out. put spacers in and get longer shocks in 12 months when you can afford them.
