Recommend some good spot lights to me.

The best I have ever had was retangular narva $70 lights on my first hilux.

Now I am about to rebuild the current lux and I am building a light rack for the roof and want to mount 4 lights up there. Must be less than 200mm in diameter and want to spend about $600 for all 4.

are you going for long distance or just lighting up a 30 meter radius when your on your favorite tight track? Cause a mate had 4 super cheap specials rectangular lights on his rollbar and they're great! Light up the whole track really well and they're cheap as chips so if you hit them on a low tree or something your not up for a fortune.

But for outright like i'm thoroughly enjoying my narva 225's but might be too big for a roof

Buy cheap spots and put some of On4ToU's 55W 5000K HID kits in them. Unreal

Here are mine they are a Hella and are rebuidable. Not sure exact spec (170s) but have coped year of abuse and the rack leg snapped off before wipeing the lights out. The middles are normal spot light but the side ones are flood/work light lenses.

Yeah the car is not a tourer, so I am not looking at lighting up a 1km, just good lights for when I am on night runs in tight bushy places.

I have a set of Super Vision HID lights, they were $1500 for the pair but out do the Hella Predator so called top of the range.

Stay clear of Roo Lites, Narva Extreme, Lightforce 240 Blitz.

The Lightforce XGT's are great, good features for a good price.
The IPF 8-900 range are fantastic, cant fault them.

If you want good lights, pay the money, a budget of $450 for 2 lights will get you some quality.

For that sort of stuff Bubs there is a round 4" Rubber bodied work light that cheap ( re $50- each ) and cop a flogging

I sorted Ant a set for Tuff Truck 2008 and as far as I know there still going strong.

buddy i had nite stalkers on my old 80. i think they were 170's $150 for 2. one spread beam and 1 pencil beam.
man they were tops for the $$.
you have better things to spend your money on then lights.
go buy 4 of them and be happy you only spent $300.

you arent trying to send a beam to outer space so save ya coin.

Another vote for either NANE or Nite stalkers, have had both and both cop a flogging and also HID compatible easily. (i have a 50w and 35w ebay kits in them)

i had a set of these we found sitting around the workshop (free) seemed pretty good til i took them out with a tree last trip to cruiser park. want to get some more but four work lamp spec ones this time.

Yeh the flood light ones are great but not cheap just the lenses were $70 and that was years ago when I worked for an autoelectrician, mind you I got all the light for free

You could always go the twin bulb jobs like Hella or Narva. I use one for reverse its awesome. (only 55watts) all my roof lights are 100w and the 2 narvas on the bar also and main headlights are 110w, with all running your old alternator wont keep up! hense I've upgraded that too. Most of the time i dont run the spotties on front as the are for longer distant so the roof lights and mains are enough, unless i want to piss someone off

Value for money, nothing matches the original 170 series metal body NiteStalkers! In fact, to get more light you would have to go to a 240 size or HID IMO. They just (like any light) need an overkill wiring harness.

They're part for part rebuildable with bits from some $600 IPF light (same thing, different packet.)

Years ago the mag did that biiig comparo, and the stalkers were in the top few overall, but cost $150 a pair or something. I've had a pair on the 4Runner/s for years without a problem.

XTG = good, very much a spot light though. I have hit some big branches and they love it.

but seriously if you want to try one of the rubber mounted floodlights i have them..i use them for rear work lights on the rear bars so grab one if yuo want

If you want something that will actually help you see when tail driving and not just a fashion accessory, I would suggest 4 x twin 55W rectangular worklamps. With two pointing forward and two back, you will basically have 360deg of light. The intensity runs out pretty quickly though ~30m?
