Off road racing Insurance
I want to get my incomplete buggy insured, and later get some sort of race insurance. After seeing Brad Prouts buggy devastated by fire at Finke - I think it might be a good idea.
Any ideas who to go through?
Shannons were no good.
Thanks
Bru

Re: Off road racing Insurance
Speak with offroad racing clubs, see what they can recommend.. I think in your application it will be beyond hideously expensive..
I think the stumbling block maybe the custom built truck.. the offroad competition racing will just make it worse. It isnt goin to go down well with most insurance places.
Try a few insurance brokers too. if it can be done, they will be able to find it..

I have a policy on my buggy in america, and have looked into local options. I'm pretty sure that nobody will give you coverage once you are on the race course.
Mine is currently covered for theft at all times, and damage / fire whilst in storage, maintenance, transport and staging - pretty much whenever it is not racing. The local one was similar - Shannons I think.
My point of veiw would be that as soon as I noticed fire, i would be on the radio withdrawing from the race. Not sure that it would work, but it would be worth a try.
I have also ordered one of these as some on board insurance

- from Dirtcomp it almost reads as if Proust had one but didn't have time to use it / fire was too big already.

Those fire units look good. Being front engine a fire will be more noticable too I guess. I'll run the best AN fittings etc for all lines etc.
Just don't want to be in the position where I have spent all my income for years besides my mortgage, and then sit and watch as it burns to the ground - knowing I could have had insurance.
Even if it was 2/3k would be worth it.
thanks fellas
