Tips

Post by icebreaker »

Well took the beast for it's first off-road trek with it's new owner (Me)

So what tips do people have for me with regards to stuff like going into water, and cleaning up afterward... Should i clean out the engine bay as soon as possible, or not give a rats and just clean it when i clean the car next. As I noticed abit of crap got into the engine bay, and I wasn't too sure whether I should be worried about it or not.

We had a great time, but we weren't following anyone, so I wasn't sure whether I was hitting stuff abit hard.

And are there any melbourne people here, that wanna go on any day trips or something... Would love to get out there with some people that know what my vehicles capable of, and get to know more places around Vic (As I'm not a local).

hmmmm... tips... are you sure you want to ask icebreakie? how about this.....

remove sway bar!
snorkel!
body lift!
crank up your torsion bars!
bigger tires!
MUD tires, or at tires if you prefer.
spotties
cb

if you didnt make it through something the first time, give it a second attempt but hit it harder! lol j/k. have you wheeled at all before or is this your first experience? remember, you just bought the truck, so you need to know what she can do ON the road, before you attempt anything OFF the road. gives you a better idea of what you can/cant try and what your willing try. you'll also get a better idea of how she'll respond, how/when to rev, shift, how the 4wheel drive feels, and there is a HUGE difference between 4wheel and 4 low... you'll notice a HUGE grunt, but be careful cuz your rpms shoot through the roof. remember, it takes pratice, you learn as you go along, and you also learn from your mistakes as well as other's. have fun!

hehehe well, we got to use Low a couple times yesterday, which was cool... As soon as i noticed it's abit of a strain, I just stop and wack it into Low, which it then seemed to be no hastle for her... Then stop and straight into High again..

looking at getting some spotties.. maybe next pay day...
CB.. already got a UHF..
Suspension lift, snorkel etc will just take time, cause i'll have no $$$ to spare for those sorts of mod's... The tyres are abit larger than stock..

I guess i was more concerned with the maintenance after the fact...
And wanna find some guys local who wanna go get their cars dirty, and then I can get out, and learn more.. And if need be pulled out of the shit if necessary. As opossed to doing it alone..

Dan,
the trips and tracks section always have trips planned, just tag along with one of them, usual places to go around Melbourne are :
Toolangi
Gembrook
Mt Disappointment
Wesburn
Narbethong

OR

Plan a trip yourself and encourage the other Feroza owners online here to join in, I know I would be interested, I'm sure AJFeroza would also be interested....there's actually quite a few here in Melbourne.
Just pick a date and time and a location............ ;)
