I'm pretty sure they are different.. Not 100% though.
I know the G52 and W5x patterns are the same as I will be converting my 3Y to a 7M soon..
If the G and R patterns are the same then that's excellent because I'm not expecting my G52 to last too long behind the new motor!

yeah they are different, case of the R series is much larger than the G/W
i have a L motor to R box here if some one is interested
there are no bell housing to suit R series to M using the push type clutch either sadly
you can run the supra bell housing but you will need to machine it down as the supra r series (r154) has an inch longer input shaft, and run the supra pull type clutch as well, bit of a stuff around but can be done, i just did it myself
i machined 10mm off the front and 5mm out the back, which just gets the shaft in the spigot bearing

Some handy info there, thanks pozman
Safe to assume you're converting yours from a diesel to a M series??

got a petrol bundy, but running the diesel box (r151f) to take the power of the 7mgte
i drove a bundy with just a 7mge, and was really good, nice power and really smooth, you will love it

Marks 4wd do an adaptor to fit R series (same as dyna pattern) to G52 or W-- bellhousing. it a plate thats bolts to the gear box and is tapped to G52 etc patten. The adator plate move gearbox back which means need to run bigger spigot bush(same lenght as adator plate!) Not cheap $400 or more a few years ago.

story this far is:
i have a marks adaptors bell housing to suit holden V8 to "hilux" box its been sitting around here for years and ill be stuffed if i can remember what box it fits.
from memory(not that good) the g52 and the R150 boxes only have 7 or 9 bolts but this has 12 holes drilled in it (gearbox side) it is an old school kit as it is marked MFC not MFK as currently used. so even allowing for dowels it may fit both or neither(dyna????)
i thought that dynas ran same box as coater bus and therefore h series cruiser style bolt pattern?
i am hoping it will fit a r150 box as that is the box i would like to use but wont know untill my mate pulls the box out for me from the wreck i sold him if not i still have the g52 but it wont last long behind the v8
so i would like to do the job right first time but would also like to save the $750 for the bellhousing kit if i can.......
time will tell i supppose

The Dyna box is the same bolt pattern as the R series box.
The old style bellhousing may have been drilled for both boxes (hope so) and you will easily tell once you get the R-151 and don't bother putting the G52 box behind the V8 as they go bang far to often.
The 7mgte motor is an awesome engine, I ran a modded turbo Supra for years and once you put a cometic head gasket with ARP head studs then they are ultra reliable (500hp is a walk in the park for these motors).
I would advise to do the head gasket & head stud upgrade before you put it in the Runner.

g52 should last i while if you go easy on it, there are a lot of v8s out there with them behind them, saying this tho most are only 253s, its the diesels that brake them most of the time, must be something about the way the power is delivered, v8 will be smoother where a diesel more like a rattle gun lol
if ya going to give it hell go r series for sure
yeah go arp head studs for sure in the 7m, cometics are really good too, but dear, i only put a toyota one in mine

I ran cometics, ARP studs, T04 turbo & 22lbs witha brass button clutch and the Supra would fry the tires in 1,2 & 3rd
Ahh those were the days when you could get away with it.

Sorry for the gradual Hi-Jack Hiluxmad!!
Yeah, well aware of the BHG tendencies of the ol 7M..
While it's sitting on the ground it's gonna get the treatment
Getting frustrated coz have to wait for my new house to be built before commencement of conversion due to a total lack of shedness
Hiluxmad - Your 'bitsa' project sounds good mate.. I'm thinking i might go nissan or 80 series diffs in the future for the extra track and rear discs
Good luck with the build mate!
