gudday

guess the question would be how far are you gunna push the engine?

If you were aiming at a 27psi monster then maybe not, but if its a normal 10-15psi build then I wouldn't worry too much about it. I have one here thats done 320,000k's and still going strong.

x 2 get a manual, they are bloody handy.

good luck

wasn't it august 93?

the way i tell the difference is the size of the crankshaft boss, the big one is the good/better one (30mm gudgeon's). there may be guys who know another way?.......

in NZ genuine was waaaay too expensive, go a quality jap made piston and rings/bearings. Ricon ?

Always check where they are made, there's some nasty Thai made 'kak' on the market.

good luck

I remember when Woop (nick) did his with genuine, it was really scary the price once finished, and he sat down and saw how much he had spent.

AdrainGQ spent $12G on his. Think that included a nice pump rebuild also.

Iv just rebuilt mine with a comp spec pump and few other goodies and iv spent about 18.5k so far and its not even in the car yet! So it all depends on how far you want to go and like it has already been said how hard it will be pushed and what psi you will be running. try and go genuine with as much as you can with the rebuild.

x 2 As above ... minimum go Nissan genuine valves, i couldn't find after market ones that i was comfortable installing into a 20k motor.
Everything else - you can find parts that's as good or better with a bit of searching.

good luck

here's a good example....
These prices are in no way accurate but represent a guide only on what I have allowed for my engine

Currently porting the head. free for me but normally $500-800
HPC combustion chambers, piston crowns and exhaust ports. $600
New turbo pistons/ liners etc, hone parent bore 100% round and fit O/S liners for perfectly round bore. $1000
Engine balance. $300
Resize, rebush rods. $150
New head bolts and rod bolts $100
Line bore/tunnel $250
Deck-special surface grind for 100% flat $300
My design camshaft, about 10 degrees more duration and .050 more valve lift. Regrind and lifters $200
Custom extractor style exhaust manifold. $1000 steam pipe $2400 316 stainless
Custom plenum inlet manifold (can't get enough air through the stock log design. materials for me $200, built with labour $700
Custom roller turbo, one of our own combinations for both reliability and radid spool speeds. $2400
Valve springs. $200
Engine kit $1800
Pump and injectors $4500-6000 depending on pump
Head reco, pre comps, valve seats, guides. $1200
Dissasemble $300
Reasemble $1000, to install injectors, pump etc
Custom intercooler and plumbing $2000
Stuff I forgot $1000
3" exhaust $800
Custom dump pipe $200
Alloy custom 4" Air box $550 (as used in my 325 rwkw turbo gen3)
Stainless steel 4" snorkel, fully tig welded $600 (cost of parts only)
Prolley need a radiator $1100
and that was a while ago!

Add a clutch, Gauges, external waste gate and turbo waste gate controller plus any Genuine Nissan goodies that cost the earth and you wont have change from 20k....
