Hey guys i run a waeco 80L in my GQ want a 100amp deep cycle battery to run it. the two mainly one"s iam looking at are both made by super charge ones a 105amp "amptech" and the other is a allrounder 105amp and 660cca. has anyone used these and what do you think? iam mainly looking the allronder because of faster recharge time. any help would be great thanks

I have just replaced my fridge/accessory battery. I did a fair bit of investigation before going this way. My use is only accessories and fridge(60L Engel), no heavy use, but am into touring rather than comps, so a deepcycle seemed best. I chose the Century Marine Pro HD from Battery World. It has a dual rating of AMP Hr and Cranking rating like yours. Its in the N70 size case and has a 95A/Hr rating, plus 700CCA from memory as well.
It is an open top/re-fillable battery as opposed to fully closed/low maintenance. I went this way because it is located under the bonnet, adjacent to the turbo - no other choice - plus it is charged by a seperate boost charge controller at higher volts so I get more evaporation by default.
I weighed the old Exide Deep cycle and this new battery and the new one is 1kg heavier, which I assume is lead, so better life is expected.
Its early days, so cannot comment on whether the cost justifies the performance. I was steered away from AGM sytle only because they were a sealed design and not able to be topped up - proximity to Turbo was seen as the biggest killer in my application.
Previous to this I ran only deep cycle units for the fridge/accessories. With a focused 'care' of battery maintenance, I get 6-7 yrs from my crank battery and up to 8 yrs for deep cycles, but I do run three deep cycles and keep the depth of discharge low to maintain life - this is probably something you might like to consider also. Cost of battery was $260. I could have bought two Exides when they are on special for this cost, but of course the specials didn't match my need for a battery!
Lastly if its a 100A/Hr battery in an N70 case, you will have more lead, but less acid, so if heat is a problem for you and evaporation an issue, you will need to monitor this to ensure the battery doesn't boil dry.

thanks for the input guys. i did look at the century marine pro hd it looked good but my budget is pretty tight and the super charge batts are a bit cheaper, but you get what you pay for right? i mainly wanted to know if they were as good as others. i also look at fallriver and rita but are AGM batts and i have heard you shouldnt put AGM batts under the bonnet curse they too hot??

I've got two super charge batteries that are the "dual purpose" type. Allegedly 105Ah. The 18 month old one is nearly dead (runs the 95L trailblaze for half a day) and the 13 month old one runs it for a day and a bit. These 'marine' style calcium batteries CAN last a long time if you only discharge them by 20% but when they regularly get deeply discharged their lifespan is terrible.(just look at the cycle life charts at different discharge levels) I've just bought an Ultimate AGM and it runs the fridge twice as long as the supercharges ever did, recharges WAY quicker (AGMs can take on 20+ amps no worries, the calciums wont suck much more than 12 amps on a charger) and hopefully lasts a lot longer. Yesterday I realised I've had the fridge running for the last 9 days and it was still at 11.2V. The supercharges never achieved this even when new. My 2c
I have an amptec as my 2nd batt, onto my second one as the first one would not hold charge after only about 3 months using a 60L Trailblaza occasionally. Was replaced under warranty. The new one is 80AH and runs the fridge for a few days with minimal driving before the fridge cuts out at 10.5V.
When i was recently looking for a replacement main batt one of the battery places that i rang wont stock Supercharge Allrounders or Amptec because of too many failures. Went for a century instead.

If you simply get an AGM, you'll be happy.
