tyre marks??
on my 33" BFG m/t' there are 2 slight groves running parallel around the entire circumference of each tyre, the front ones seem more prominent.
ive gof nfi how they got there, anyone seen similar??
could it be a fault in the tyre??? hope not

Blair cuts or marks in tires are usually from something sharp rubbing on the tire while you are spinning them . Word of advice for you , you were very lucky you didn't break anything trying the steps when you see guys running lockers etc that is because we have broke shait doing stuff the truck was not up to .. mate my rangie don't look it but that is a 25G truck ( only paid $1200 for it) and i did 90% if the work myself and this is the basic setup. Ask guys like cheezy/apline/bj/pos/ruff and all the rest who have major off road weapons what it cost them , it can be major dollars . Input welcome if i am wrong here guys ?

Mine, when its finished including purchase price will owe me $10000.
yeh but im a pov arse student bum... if i could afford lockers i would have em. one day i too will have a twin locked beast but in the meantime ill still have a GO (within reason).
you can only learn from experiences and to me the steps did not look that hard, if i had chosen the correct line, i would have gotten over the rock ledge first go, and would have got to the point i reached without any risk of damage, because i tried to go straight up the ledge instead of putting my drivers side wheel on the bank i had to give my car a bit of a hard time, but ive got no lockers and only 33"'s so i dont think i was that close to breaking anyting, but anyway i had fun and learned lots.
see you on the next trip joe, hope the diff is fixed

the tyre marks were caused how bubs suggested, maybe i didnt explain it well.
yeh dave i got the sticks/mud out from the bead, there was no damage thankfully, if it had been rocks it could be a different story.
my tyres were at 16/17 psi, same as yours, did u get anythin in your bead??
is 16/17 too low without beadlcks on those types of tracks?? what were other people running? i thought they were at 20 but they must have changed from sat to sun.

Nah i didn't get anything in my beads, i have noticed (may just be me though) that the new KM Muddies seem to get crap in the beads easier than the old style. Plus I didn't give mine quite as big a thrashing up the steps as your did.

You will find that over the course of a trip if you do a fair bit of driving with the tyres loaded sideways they can burb some air on occasions.

I have the older style BFGs (35s) no beadlocks and I run 10 psi in the back 12 psi in the front with no dramas
It also really depends on how long the tire has been on the rim .. if its been on there ages you can run it heaps lower as all the rust and shite that seems to build up around them tends to help them stick to the rim.
I used to run my 32x11.5 mud terrains on my Zuk in the single digits without problems ... but less than about 12 in the swampers I had ... I would spin the rim in the tyre .. and or pop the bead .

Wendle wrote:yep, maybe the older ones were better. I had them on my hilux and always ran them at 8 front & back, only slipped a bead a couple of times..
rig weights matter a bit too, but all different factors affect it, widths, age of tyre, where the tyre has been e.g in the sun and so forth

Two words- CONTACT ADHESIVE
I run my 38.5s at 6psi with no beadlocks and have yet to pop a bead.
First take a grinder/sander and remove all the paint from the bead area of the rim then clean the tyre bead with thinners then spray contact adhesive on both the rim and the bead. Let it tac off then inflate the tyre onto the rim.
It has so far held up on my tyres but i have not run the tyres too low yet because im still not totaly convinced it will work.
Sam(strange rover) ran his Silverstones with tubes and kept spinning the tyre on the rim but after using contact adhesive had no more problems.
