the 1FZ will make you cry with its fuel consumption in a 105 series- I dont think i've ever heard of anyone getting below about 15L/100 in the things!
the 1HZ is sloooow (Im biased, i drive either a 4.5TDV8 or 4.2TD 79 series!)

2005 HDJ100 Manual, ARB bar, XD9000 winch, ARB rooftop tent + awning, Drawers, Engel, 2" OME lift, 285/75R16 KM2's, iCom, HID XGT's.
15/100 aint that bad.
My dunnydore I use during the day chomps down 12.
Dont do a lot of Km's in the 75. Its done 8000 kms in 5 years, so fuel consumption doesnt bother me.
The only places I tend to go to when 4wd arnt to far away from here.
Takes 15 mins to hit the bush in any direction from Canberra..woo hoo.

I don't even get 600k's out of both tanks with my 1FZ.
you must have a heavy right boot i have regurlarly got 750ks out of 100series petrols and i have driven many as my company cars they wont get the quoted 15l/100 more like 19 or 20l/100 145 litre fuel capacity in 2 tanks.

toyota should have made a 100 series ute.
best to get a factory turbo motor
strong gearbox and no precom chambers to crack the head for you
Crozza
get a rolling 80 chassis and a 1hdfte put it in your 75 you will be way happier with the end truck

Eewww. I was about to offer some input when I saw that modified photo and threw up in my mouth a little. I hope you do a nicer blended canopy if you do go down that path.
But seriously whilst it would be a far more comfortable tourer than your current set up if you do only do so few k's a year it would be a long time in getting your moneys worth and if most trips are so close how much extra benefit is that extra comfort. Extended trips would make a difference to the thought process though. The 80 chassis under the ute makes a lot of sense cost wise.
Either way if you go ahead please think about doign it as a style side and makign it a bit classier. There are so few done that way and it's a shame.
