Post by out&about »

Today I put new front bearings and sleeves into my gq 1994 patrol and when I put the new ones in I could not get the sirclip on once I had it all back together .I am wondering if the sleeves are a different width if any one else has had same problem would love some advice as to what I have done wrong, cheers

i take it your talking about the circlip on the axle just before you throw your fwhs back on. mayby try giving the axle a pull usually they have a bit of play in and out, most have a bolt hole on the end you can screw something into and pull it out that way. i usually just put my circlip pliers in there and pull it out that way, hope this helps

As Benos says, its a PITA but can be done and needs to be done.... Just use plyers to try and pull the splined part out a bit adn circlip on circlip plyers, it will work.

probably just a bit of grease stopping it from coming all the way out. Pull it apart again and clean it, smear a very small amount of grease on the copper shim and reassemble.
