Been searching alot the past couple of days. I own the 2.7efi. I get about 17L - 100k which is horrid. That works out to about 350km to a tank. I am quite a lead foot and they do have abit of power but its between 3500 to 4500 rpm.

The tanks are 77L in the single cab and i think 65L in the duals. Some people say they are getting about 600km to a tank. Which is double what im getting.

So either there is something seriosly wrong on my side or its just usual internet lies.

They only things i know about the v6 is supposedly there just not as good in all departments. :P

around town i avarage to 450km, on highway (dirt road to cairns) i get almost 600km a tank.

i have 32x11.5 big horns as well an dlifted the truck 2 inches so theres drag and weight added compard to a stock hilux.

They are both thirsty engines. I would personally go for the turbo diesel 1KZ-TE option. About the same power (bit less than the V6) but heaps better fuel economy.

Your going to get about 400ks to a tank in the 3.4 hilux. Thats a 66l tank.

Although on paper the 1KZ shows the same power figures as the 3.4l V6. On the road they are nothing alike. The V6 feels like its got the quoted HP where as the 1KZ although its no slouch for a 4cyl turbo it has nothing on the V6 other than fuel economy.

Having said that i would prefer to own the 1KZ over the V6. I only bought my V6 one as it was at a price i couldnt refuse. I will eventually trade it on a 1KZ hilux.

Ive had the 3.4l's in at work with leaking injectors a couple of times and you cant repair/clean them. Throw away job. Gets a bit expensive!!
