hey guys.
soo the hub seals on the front of my 88 hilux are leaking pretty bad.
ive heard that they can be filled up with grease istead of oil and wont leak but im not sure if this is true or if it will be any good for it?
also how hard are they to do?
any other things you guys could inform me on about them would be great.

they allready have grease in them! the reason its leaking oil is the weak as piss axle seals leak diff oil into the hubs and that washes the grease out.
I have used the Ebay hub seal kit ($80) and Locked up 4x4 heavy duty axle seal. The new axle seal is kick arse. $35 pr but hey thats the biggest problem with cruisers and lux's.

just fix it properly. you can do it your self. do your king pins and wheel bearings at the same time as any of these in poor condition will cause the new ones to fail quickly again.
i used a kit from don kyatt which was well priced and 50,000 ks later has seen no problems.
half arses repairs are not worth the issue and everything written above is true.

The bush inside the axle housing hub is also overlooked when doing seals, as if this is worn, the cv will move around, thus causing the seal to leak.
Breathers blocked, king pins worn, and the bush the cv runs in are the main culprits for axle seal leaks.

Not shimming the kin pin bearings will make the axle run out of round - stuffing the seal and causing to leak.
When fitting the new kit throw away the shims and use the original shims that are on the knuckles.
Or you could make up a tool to check the centre of the axle to the housing. Should be shown in a work manual.
