I've looked through mountains of pages of posts and i didn't find any info i was after. So i thought i would post the question. I've got a 1989 2.8 N/A deisel Rocky, what's involved in sticking the turbo onto it. As i can see it it's going to need the turbo and manifold, and an injection pump from a turbo motor which has the boost compensator. It looks like the engine itself is the same between the N/A and the turbo.
Could anyone tell me if there is a place which sells kits or a good wrecker that would have the parts?

u wont need to change the pump at all just get it tuned once u have the turbo setup u will need to also get an oil pickup line an weld in a plug in your sump for an oil return line.. u may have problems with overheating the factory turbo motors has a setup where oil was injected (sprayed) under the piston to keep the temp down so the didnt get to hot,
mine isnt a factory turbo but i have done the conversion plus intercooler and once tuned works well currently its makes 110hp 10psi stock turbo at wheels on 31inch tyres. the head was raied 2mm to lower the comp a lil more to help deal with the pressure... pulls my work trailer witch weighs 1800kg easily

In a diesel, why would you lower the compression ratio? It's definately a completely different ball game to a petrol motor!
Also, if you don't use the injector pump with boost compensator, your fuel-air ratio will either run rich off boost or too lean on boost, depending on which you tune it for. Either way, it doesn't help with efficiency or power in any sense.
