g13b twin cam wiring??
g13b twin cam wiring??
hey i am half way through putting a mk1 gti engine in my 96 sierra. evrything has been pritty good but im stuck on the wiring side of things.. if any one could help out who has done this with the best way to go about it, should i use the gti loom? or do i join it into the sierra loom? thanks
Is all the wiring still in the GTI ? If not pull the dash out so you can get to all the wiring as the ecu wiring runs out both sides of the engine bay , its a bugger like that . Then lift all the loom from the ecu into the engine including the two ralays by the ecu , these are the main and fuel pump relays . The only wire of interest running towards the back of teh car is the fuel pump so that loom can be cut at a good place . Then remove the complete loom from the car .
Once the loom is out I would strip off all the tape so all the wires are exposed . Then with the wiring diagram start on one plug and trace each wire , mark what it goes to then move on to the next . Will seem teadious but will quickly come together . Then you can cut off all the wires that are not part of the ecu , there will be alot as the fuse box possibly came out with the ecu wiring .
Once this is done you will have just the wires to run the engine . I would then graft this into the existing wiring loom , ie you existing oil pressure and alt wires etc .
It may seem like a daunting task but if you follow it wire for wire you will work it all out and best of all is you will know what you did and how it works , incase there is any problems on the trail .
Cheers
