Need your experience and opinions mates,
I'm looking at chopping the back of my Jtop Pajero which is intended as a full time trail rig and a town fiesta (small time ) race vehicle, leaving only the frame chassis , the roll bar, a new mounting for the spare tire and a fenders for the rear tire to minimize mud scattering all over the vehicle . This vehicle already have front solid axles and Im waiting for the delivery of my ARB lockers.
I am estimating that this will reduce about 250kgs to 350kgs. on the weight of the vehicle thus increasing the power to weight ratio to more than 100HP/ton . Although it looks good on paper, I am worried that this will make the pajero front heavy and may cause problems when you go up or down a very slippery slope.
Anybody has experience chopping their rear end? What is the effect of the chop on handling? Are there other things that I should watch out.
Any inputs and feedback will be greatly appreciated. tia .
