back door broken?? 93 paj

Post by DUDELUX »

mrs dudelux broke the paj, she went to open the back door/tailgate, she said she pulled the door handle, and the handle broke, so i took a look and the handle on the outside has no feeling in it, it just does nothing. the inside handle does have feeling in it but wont open the door, i cant open the door, how do i open the door when the handle wont let it open, it feels like a linkage or something has broken from the outside handle to the locking mechanism, i looked in the owners manual but all it says in there about the tailgate is where to put the key and where the tools go. i already knew that. i did a search on here but found nothing. please help

Its a common problem, the handle breaks on the inside. Its genuine only and dear [about $150+ I think]. Not her fault, you need to lube the inside as soon as it starts to get hard to open

You have a door opener on the inside, climb through the back seats. Open the door and remove the trim. You will see the inside of the handle and the nuts holding it. It comes out easy

door wouldnt open so i stuck some flathead screwdrivers in to pry the door open and fiddled with the lock, it opened, eventually. took the trim off and pulled the handle out, went to the 4b wreckers near my place, none in stock but 80bucks. i went around the corner to a different wreckers, 45 bucks and they took me into the yard for a look around while they got the handle for me. (im going back tomorrow to get some bits for the lux). came home replaced door handle fitted trim back on and done.
thanks for the advice
