Improving power of old Navara

Post by saintpaul »

Ive just bought my 1st 4x4 :) a 1986 Navara duel cab. From what I can tell its a D21? It has a 2.5L diesel.

It runs nicely but lacks a little power going up hills.
When I bought it I was told it had a leaking injector, not sure if that is the cause of the lack of power.

Im not very mechanically minded at all so are there any easy/cheap things I can do to increase its performance?

Also can I get some kind of turbo to put on it?

Cheers

Its a non turbo SD25 engine.

Apart from the leaking injector Ive also been told I need to change the exhaust manifold gasket.

While I was busy looking at everything under the hood I did notice that the air filter points backwards towards the passenger seat. I found this very odd.
