86 hilux, to the cape, what do I need?

Post by craz3d »

So, gap year next year before I study auto engineering at uni.
Thinking I want to drive up to the cape and spend some time just cruising around aus camping etc out the back of my hilux.
It's pretty much stock at the moment, 31's, 4y 4.88 diffs etc.

Now I know QLD has some pretty bodgy laws regarding mods up there, a mate of my dad's has his GQ engineered perfectly in vic and was driving it in qld and got done. ( I live in vic)

So what will I need to do to the car to be able to tackle the cape safely and legally in the eyes of QLD police?

a winch of some form, snatch straps, snorkle etc are pretty standard things obviously. What else in terms of suspension mods would be needed? Lockers?

I know i'd need a lot of spares for just in case.

I just want to get there, not go nuts in the tracks

Ta; Keith.
