Post by MQ SWB »

Thanks in advance

They both are exactly the same - all parts interchangeable etc.

Just the 'ford badge in place of the nissan badge'

There are a few subtle differences in them..

Ford upspec'ed the XLT...

Nissan had numerous models, DX,RX,ST, Ti, TiLtd, etc

Ford dont sell parts for Mav's anymore they tell u to go to nissan.

I just had alook (from the outside)at a 90 swb mav $6000 245K on the clock looks reasonable inside and out, had a look under and found about 3 oil leaks 1: back end of transfercase just in front of park brake hub (hope this is right )
2: sump plug (new copper washer maybe)
3: looking from under at front looks like oil just behind grille on left hand side of vehicle.
It looks like its got new sunraysias all round and the original spare on the back. tyres about 50%, little bit of rust on rear LHS window seal/ frame, a few scrathes mainly on the roof from roof racks. looks like bonnett has been resprayed though will ask about that, standard suspension, replaced shocks about 12 months ago, extractors, crappy bull bar, crappy tow bar has only got one months rego left but said would include 12 months rego in for the price.
Question, is it worth it or just wait for the right one to come along.
I intend to get a nrma inspection done on it or if some one can recommend some one else up around hornsby area to look at it thanks in adavnce
Don't want to buy a lemon
ps.(does the mav have lsd standard)
many thanks again
Dixie

Are the Fords cheaper because people are not sure about this?

At $6000 I couldnt imagine it lasting long. Mav's seem to be cheaper, as alot of people think cos Ford dont sell them any more, parts etc will be hard to get.
Yes there is differances but mainly most of them came out with 3.9 diff gears. Mav's where also more highly spec'd ie sunroofs, elec mirrors/windows and factory diff locks.
THOUGHT FOR THE DAY....
