Starting to think about a bigger 4b. mostly for touring but still able to take on some of the tougher stuff.
Is the IFS the main limitation to the Prados?
Mates who have cruisers have the usual off the shelf 33-35's and front or rear lockers and off the shelf lifts, so nothing full custom or mega flexy.
I'm coming from a dual locked, lifted sierra btw.
Would a prado keep up? with appropriate mods of course.
Are all the usual mods available? (F+R lockers, lift, rims, barwork etc)
Rear LSDs are im guessing usual toyota affair, use once and then it doesnt work are they better than they used to be.
I was thinking about the diesel if i can afford it, if not the v6+gas maybe.

Jcas24 has a nice prado which is set up well for touring. not as big as a cruiser which might play a role in decision making.
the rear end on the 90 series prados flex pretty well, and with a locker in the front and driven right can see why it wouldnt keep up.

Plus cheaper rego, fuel and insurance for the prado. Add this up over the life of the vehicle and mate.... its a winner. BTW, limited TX and VX models had factory diff locks. Not just centre diff locks, the full quid!!! SICK HEY!
I've had the 90 and 120 series prado, turbo diesels.
Ive had 80 and 100 series cruiers in GXL and pov packs, and loved them all.
But the prado was BY FAR the best on fuel of the nice cars ive had.... Made my 97hilux feel like a POS to drive too!!!
It doesn't drive as nice as a 100 series (seriously smooth, NVH is awesome, steering feel, everything is perfect) BUT one of the most expensive cars to have!! and not quite as good offroad as an 80 series. BUT... if its 90% street or more (be honest) the prado FTW!
Prado auto's love the beach work too.
