the nissan auto is prone to stripping the input shaft..... i was told about it and thought it was crap until mine with a V8 in front of it putting in FAR less power than an LS2 will, crapped itselfkillalux wrote:either T400 or Manualised nissan auto

Don't you mean Nissan torque converters are prone to stripping the spline so when you do it you get the torque convertor strengthened. I Have run a Nissan auto behind a turboed, I/C TD42 runing 21psi doing comps and also run one behind a turboed VH45 that had 280 rwkw. The auto is plenty string enough but you do need to ensure the spline is reinforced in the TC.Vulcanised wrote:the nissan auto is prone to stripping the input shaft..... i was told about it and thought it was crap until mine with a V8 in front of it putting in FAR less power than an LS2 will, crapped itselfkillalux wrote:either T400 or Manualised nissan auto
93 Nissan Pathfinder / Terrano Turboed VH45, GQ Trans and T-case, coil overs, hydraulic winch and fair bit of other stuff. (Currently a pile of parts in the workshop)

i was told it was the spline on the input shaft that strips, and apparently that is what went in mine...... i didn't change it out. Just got another box, took it to a mechanic and paid them to do it. I didn't have the time...... and never saw the busted part. I know the torque converter lock up was piss weak in them too..... don't last very long.nzdarin wrote:Don't you mean Nissan torque converters are prone to stripping the spline so when you do it you get the torque convertor strengthened. when i was trying to decide the same thing... i spoke to a auto gearbox guy and told him what sort of work it would be doing and he basically told me stick to a manuel unless u want to spend massive bucks and get it rebuild often so i stuck with manuel...
