hey craig i know most of the ASCC modified class competitors use light hydro oil in their powersteerin to stop it from boiling to quick but most of those lads are nissans i asked this before in a thred and got the same answer as you are gettin now... but i wood give it a go    ... can only make your steering alittle heavier :D let me know how you go mate

havent had much to do with 4x4 hydro steering setups but i work in industrial hydraulic services & were constantly getting steering cylinders off all kinds of applications in, which r farked from power steer fluid / auto trannie oil. it will chew out seals HEAPS quicker & isnt ideal. i wouldnt use it !!
but like i said i havent had much to do with 4x4 setups

If The unit is new , I don;t think it will make much difference to relaibility
Imay or may not make it lighter--- But if the unit has had a perticular fliud run in it previously you may cause seal problems by changing fliud type, All depends on the material the seals are made from .
