What and where to get exhaust

What and where to get exhaust
I need to put a new exhaust on the cruiser.
It needs to be custom due to the aftermarket turbo and long range fuel tank.
the tossup is (I'm a cheapskate)
2.5" press bend (no idea on price)
3" press bend (no ideo on price)
3" mandrel (welded - $850+)
3" mandrel bend (Beaudesert $1050)
My questions are
a) What have ppl paid for a 2.5" and 3" press bend system?
b) Where in BNE does "cost effective" systems?
c) Whilst a 3" mandrel flows best, does it matter for a 10PSI 1HZ that rarely gets over 3000RPM.
d) Would the 3" reduction in backpressure make any significant effect on EGT?
e) How do I keep the turbo whistle / spool, but not keep the diesel drone / roar? I do love the note of 3 feet of exhaust pipe and nothing else.
Thanx
Paul

I paid $500 for a 3" mandrel bent exhaust with custom dump pipe and 1 muffler. I supplied the flex joint, laser cut dump pipe flange and 1 mandrel bend. Took the guy 2 weeks (between jobs), but the dump pipe and the section between the bellhosing and chassis were very tricky.
In Brisbane I used to go to right price exhausts at slacks creek. Last one I got there was $250 for a complete 2.5" press-bent system, but that was a while ago...
I am sure you will notice the difference with a mandrel bent system.
I am disappointed - no aluminium and pop rivets this time??? A 1" exhaust would be the lightest option if you want to save weight![Wink ;)](./images/smilies/icon_wink.gif)

chunks wrote:Ditto. Will do everything you want including keep the turbo whistle without the drone. Don't waste your time with press bends or 2.5" system, just go the 3" mandrel bent system and do the job once.ledgend80 wrote:i say just get the beaudesert 3 inch system
X3
put the beaudesert on the 79 (3 inch mandrell and dump) could not have been happier,
Great service and backup super easy fitt, aprox 3hrs (old pipe off new one on)
So happy ended up ordering another one a week later for my 100 Sahara,
i understand your on a budget but you get what you pay for, and you may even get a little back on resale
