Suspension for hj75

picked up a hj75 on the weekend. stock 89 model with the 3f petrol. only paid 2 grand for it. suspension leaves alot to be desired. it was a work truck with heavy duty springs fitted so the ride is shocking. anyone recomend brands lifts etc for it.
going to be daily driver seeing weekend beach and bush work, nothing serious. just going to bolt on my 33;s to it.
any help would be great.

im interested in the replys as i have a 91 troopy and trying to get a positive answer off spring people to what best serves your purpose is like pulling teeth ,rang 5 suspension places yesterday for a price on leaves bushes shackles and shocks prices varied from 1800 to 4grand so im i bit confused at the moment

Just FYI - the 3f engine would make it an FJ75 HJ75 ran the 2h diesel (4.0L pushrod), HZJ75 runs the 1HZ diesel (4.2L OHC), and FZJ75 runs the 1FZ petrol (4.5L OHC)

As for suspension i can't really help you. I have factory springs reset for a small lift and a leaf added to the front, multiple leaves added to the rear. Front is firm but not uncomfortably firm. Rear could definetly be softer - tends to buck a bit with no load on board. With ~500kg on board it rides really well. Running old koni's - not sure on which model they are.

Messing about with your springs (removing leaves) could be the most cost effective option depending on their condition. At stock height a 75 will fit 33's fairly easily (might scrub slightly on full compression in the front, will inevitebly scrub on the rear - chassis rail)

before the major mods started in my 75, i just ran an a 2" efs spring kit and it preformed quite well, was quite good on the road and very good in the bush, you will fit a 35" tyre with ease with a 2" spring kit so a 33" tyre would work well, as for price just get on the phone and ring around

found a shop that would do a dobinson kit for 1600 to suit 75s, when i am home i will post ya the address if you want?

yeah mate that would be good.
although would dobinsons flex as good as efs? or are there flexier leafs you can buy standard?
dont really have the know how to remove leaves without making a nice looking S

In my current rig i have EFS rear springs, and what I believe are old dobison 4'' front springs, which have sagged to around 2'' lift.

The front flexes waaay better than the rear. My other car the red one, has the same EFS springs in the rear with 2'' extended shackles.

looking at getting parabolics from westralia springs or getting 3 inch efs kit. any preference or opinions on both?

the 33'3 have been sold to a mate. now looking at getting some 35's for it. you said that with a 2 inch lift your 75 cleared the tires, what else did you have to do? only asking as the local 4wd shop told me i needed a 3 inch lift, extended shackles and a 2 inch bodylift before 35's would fit. or is he just making money?

There has been alot of talk of this lately with 75s. Once i get my shockies in that finally turned up. i will make a build thread on my truck! So everyone can get a idea of what i have done with springs! Should be impressive once i get in on the track! Its been a long time coming! Lets just say she should flex well and still drives like a dream on the road with no sway bay!! Alot better then my old stock suspension set up!

just picked my 75 series troopy from getting it efs 2"leaves with shocks greasable shackles and steering dampener its like a new truck could not be happier with it almost need a small ladder to get in it!
