Changing a cv/axle heaps quick on a gq?
Changing a cv/axle heaps quick on a gq?
Read somewhere, Searched everywhere, (Three different forums).
With no luck.
I read somewhere that the comp boys can swap over a cv/axle in like 20 od minutes or something?
Any chance someone knows where the thread is or could tell me?
Just curios on how its done?

I pit crew for a production class (vic) gq and the best we have done a cv in was 15 mins, but you need and good cordless rattle gun and the right size bearing nut socket, as well as a good magnet on a stick, to speed things up.
Its quicker to leave the swivel hub on and just remove the hub and disk, and then remove the stub axle, which then allows you to remove the shrapnel the is left in the swivel housing, with the magnet.

Ive done a few quick comp changes, under the half hour mark and back out there for the next track.
we normally undo the wheel bearing, rather than take the swivel hub apart. with the GU lock nuts conversion its a bit quicker and easer.
Two blokes, an electric impact gun, all the right tool ready to go,
spare axle and C/V assembled, greased and wrapped in plastic wrap at the ready.
I haven't needed to change one on mine since upgrading to treated C/V's.
but still change a few for mates.
