My first cruiser (hj60, diesel)

Post by 60seriesasthmatic »

Hey all i'm new here and just recently bought my first Toyota Landcruiser (60 series HJ60) diesel deluxe model. Whilst this is not my first 4x4 its my first toyota.

I paid only $2k for it which i consider quite good seeing as it has been mainly a western vehicle all its life (almost no rust anywhere) has a fully recond 5 speed box, new t/fer case, front and rear diffs rebuilt, Ironman suspension all round( foam cell shocks, 2" lift springs, Greasable shackles) Bullbar, Sidesteps, scrub rails, endless air set-up, stainless water tank, new exhaust and an interior that looks like its only been outta the factory for 2-3 years, and a full roof rack with ladder.

While driving it home i noticed it was only running on 5 cyl properly, pulled the head to have the valves and seats reground only to be told its a newish aftermarket head and this is its first regrind( bonus ). While it was this far appart i figured i'd give her a in chassis rebuild, so i threw in a new set of rings, and conrod bearings and also a very desperately needed set of new rockers as the old ones were so badly worn.

I'm going to give the guys at ENGINE AUSTRALIA a plug as this is where i bought all my engine parts from ( $630 retail incl post for rings, conrod bearings, full set of rockers, and a complete engine gasket set.) Absolute quality parts and service. I didn't replace the main bearings as they were checked and didn't need it and didn't feel like pulling the crank.

The only thing i have to do now is to replace the worn injectors.
Took her for a run today and wow what a difference a bit of a freshen up makes.

I have a few more things i wanna get set up on it(Front + rear locker, winch, etc) but for now i'm quite happy with my aquisition. I'll post up some pics later on once i've got em off the camera.
