4runner starter motor problem perth

Post by hidden_on_tour »

hello,
i'm a backpacker, arrived few days ago and currently living in perth. i bought a toyoto 4runner sr5 2 days ago, but now i have a problem with the starter motor. when i turn the key, the starter moter just "clicks" and works then after 5 trys. i'm not sure, maybe the problem is something else...

i'm searching for someone who can help me here around perth. or for a good cheap mechanic around perth or north of perth, maybe you have something for me or can help me, i will pay well...

cheers ramon

Hi Ramon!

I can't believe nobody from perth has piped up to help you.

the good news is that the problem with your starter is very common and very easy to fix.

here is a link to a very detailed description of the problem, the solution, the parts you need - everything. you should be able to get the parts form any auto parts supplier, they do not need to be genuine toyota. if you are desperate, you can just "curl" up the end of the eroded terminal and it will last another 50 - 200 starts until you can get the parts.

good luck!
