I *think* they're the same except the 2H has an updated fuel system.
Buy it, pull it apart and consider it a learning curve.

Starter and alternator are the same, H motor is 3.6 liters and 2H motor is 4 liter capacity. 2H is a better motor besides being more powerful. cheers

a h motor is a bit of a down grade, especially from the already gutless 2h. I'd recommend finding a 2h to replace if you need a new motor. they are cheap as chips. good ones start at 500.
Apart from that the h motor was never in the 60 series, and predates it so engineering wise it's a no-no.

nah, spares don't interchange much at all. you'd be lucky to get alt and starter, the rest won't go.

I was lead to believe otherwise?
Looks like your out of luck, Sonny.

yep, even the early H and late H don't share much. learnt that the hard way...

to tell a H from a 2H?
a 2H's engine number will start with "2H" a H engine number starts with "H"

Easy way to tell the difference, the tappet cover and timing gear housing look different when you compare a H and 2H, plus the H motor has siamesed inlets on number 3 and 4 cylinders (meaning that they're joined together, you can see this by looking at the intake manifold). I don't mind my H motor, it is slow though. You'd have to be nuts to swap from a 2H to a H though.
